3RD NOVEMBER 2017 | DEL MAR RACETRACK

Longines, the luxury watch company based in Saint Imier, currently owned by the Swatch Group has been one of the most elegant brands of the equestrian world sponsoring the sports.

Longines, the luxury watch company based in Saint Imier, currently owned by the Swatch Group has been one of the most elegant brands of the equestrian world sponsoring the sports. Not only in the present date but also since 1878 Longines is closely linked with the jockey and his mount. Also, it has been sponsoring for the Longines FE1 World’s Best Jumping Horse and Rider for an outstanding performance in jumping across the globe. For many equestrian races and championships Longines has been the benefactor. This time for the Breeders’ Cup 2017 we are looking forward for something exotic and happening at the Showdown. On November 3rd- 4th the best is yet to come at the Del Mar Racetrack. The attractions for the event include open bar, gourmet food and more. The guest judge Kate Upton is expected at the Race course. The international event has also announced the launch of Cheval, a new luxury merchandise line representing the brand’s most high-end offerings. Breeders’ Cup World’s Championship is an annual series of Grade 1 thoroughbred horse races, operated by Breeders Cup Ltd. From 2008 to 2014, the event was held either at Churchill Downs or Santa Anita Park. In 2015, Keeneland was selected as the host track for the first time. The year marked the initial opportunity to win the so-called Grand Slam of thoroughbred racing. In 2016, Santa Anita had the record upon hosting the Breeders’ Cup Turf for the 9th time. The race was run for a distance of 1 ½ miles on the grass for horses 3 years and older. The race attracted the top turf horses’ talent from Europe and North America to compete for a $4 million purse. The winner for last year 2016 was Highland Reel with jockey Seamus Heffernan.
This year in 2017, the grand event will be held at Del Mar for the first time. The Breeders’ Cup is experiencing many ups and downs as talented race horses compete for a spot in one of the 13 championships races. Great expectations are from Heavenly Love, Roy H and Separation Powers in comparison to Kelly’s Humour, Zhukova and Rally Cry.
With only one race left on the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series “Win and You’re in” Schedule, the time has come to begin sorting the contenders from the pretenders for the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championships for a starting spot and share of more than $28 million in purses and awards.
Del Mar has always been marked to steal the spotlight and what could be a better place to host the Breeders’ Cup 2017?!
