After a dominating performance in the semi-final, they beat Park Place 9-7 to win the trophy.

Having won 4 Queen’s Cup titles previously, Facundo Pieres took the field on June 17 looking for his 5th. Sporting the La Indiana jersey, he did in style won the Most Valuable Player award. ‘Cube’, an Australian bred mare, assisted her master Pieres to be named as the Best Playing Pony.

Her Majesty The Queen and Laurent Feniou of Cartier, the sponsors of Queen’s Cup 2018, presented the pair of Facundo and ‘Cube’ with their awards. Also spectating the game was the HRH Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.



Earlier in the week, Park Place and La Indiana beat Valiente and La Bamba de Areco respectively to book their places in the final. La Indiana must have been soaring high on confidence after a thumping victory in the semi-final by 13 goals to 6, which was quite evident by their comeback performance in the final match.

The scoreboard displayed a 2-2 stalemate at the end of the 2nd chukka, but the game had seen a lot of action already with two major collisions resulting in severe injuries. After only one and half minutes into the game, Hilario Ulloa of Park Place collided with Alec White of La Indiana. Fortunately, Ulloa got back on his feet in some time, while White served his 2-minutes penalty. In the 2nd chukka, Andrey Borodin after a collision with La Indiana’s Nic Roldan, had to be taken off in an ambulance. He was substituted by young Charlie Tighe.

3rd Chukka belonged to Park Place as a brace from Juan Britos and one goal each from Hilario Ulloa and Tommy Beresford saw them take a 6-4 lead going into the half time.





The big names stepped up for La Indiana, as Nic Roldan and Facundo Pieres bagged one goal each to again draw the scores level at 6-6 in the 4th chukka. The second last chukka too failed to create a difference as a goal apiece meant the final chukka was to begin with a score of 7-7.
Pieres showed up when it was required the most, firing through 2 goals and saving a Britos penalty, to secure a win for his side. La Indiana bagged the prestigious trophy, beating Park Place with a final score of 9 goals to 7.
In the subsidiary final, Emlor Polo Team beat Talandracas 12-9 to win the Cartier Trophy.
