The final of the 20-goal tournament was played at the Grand Champions Polo
Club on the 1st of April in Wellington, Florida.
The final game was played between Palm Beach Polo/Palm Beach Equine and Travieso in front of a packed house and turned out to be a marathon game in which both sides had chances to win the match in regulation and overtime.
The match started with Travieso scoring the first goal of the match and ended the first chukker at 1-0. The score was 2-1 by the end of the second chukker in favour of Travieso. The third chukker saw both teams defend expertly and it remained goalless and the score remained 2-1 at halftime. Palm Beach Polo levelled the score to 3-3 by the end of the fourth but Travieso scored again to make it 6-5 to get the lead in the fifth chukker. Palm Beach Polo levelled the score in the final chukker to make it 7-7 and took the game to overtime.
With less than a minute left in overtime, Laprida scored the match winning goal for his side Palm Beach Polo/ Palm Beach Equine to win the John T. Oxley Memorial Cup.
Eight-Gaoler Magoo Laprida was named Most Valuable Player. Laprida led Palm Beach Polo/Palm Beach Equine scoring four goals including the game- winner with less than a minute left in overtime.
