In a thrilling contest between two evenly matched sides, Ylvisaker Cup got the better or Travieso and capped a perfect debut in the Ylvisaker Cup.
The match was the highlight of the day as it was gripping from the first second till the last, a treat for the spectators gathered at the International Polo Club, Palm Beach in Wellington.
Both teams got off to a good start, but a dominant display in the second and the third chukker saw Postage stamp get a 10-6 lead.
Heading into the fourth chukker, Postage stamp looked certain to win the tie but a comeback by Travieso made things interesting as the score was tied 11-11 in the fifth with just minutes to play. However, a goal by Brandon Philips helped Postage Stamp secure a 12-11 victory on their debut.
Many other teams also made their debuts earlier in the day in the Ylvisaker Cup. Other notable match up was between Tonkawa and GSA. Tonkawa got the better of their opponents with a 12-7 victory. At noon, Valiente defeated Coca Cola by 10-6 a game which marked the 2018 debut of Adolfo Cambiaso and Bob Jornayvaz, winners of the 2017, U.S. Open.
